The Society is very proud of its many relationships with European Senior Golfing Societies. Each year we host a visit by one or more of our friends over the Channel and send a touring party to another country. There is always a high demand by our members for inclusion in these tours.
The Belgian Seniors organise the King Leopold Challenge, a week long bi-annual competition for Senior Golfers in Europe and world-wide played on one of the Royal courses in Belgium. The Society usually enters two teams of four players and it is a great opportunity to socialise and compete with our fellow golfers across the Channel.
Every four years we host a touring team from ARGSB and send one across during the intervening years of the Leopold Challenge. The result is that there is an opportunity for a golfing engagement every year between our nations which ensures a close and very cordial relationship.
A scratch match of foursomes and singles is held every two years between the Society and our amis francais. Over the years many of the French Seniors have become our close friends and the matches are always played in great spirit with outstanding hospitality. The last match was played in 2025 at Morfontaine, a magnificent venue north of Paris.
The French Seniors enter several teams for the King Leopold and so we enjoy friendly competition and social interaction with our French comrades on a frequent basis.
The Society arranges tours to Germany every four years and invites a party from the German Seniors to the UK in the intervening year. The King Leopold is also a great opportunity to renew acquaintances with our friends from the German Seniors.
The Society enjoys a very valued relationship with the Dutch Seniors which has developed significantly in recent years. We welcome a touring party from Holland in 2024 who played four matches in Sussex and Kent We are touring Holland in 2026 to play three matches in the Uttrecht area. Many personal friendships have also been forged between members of our Societies so that “informal” visits have been hosted in addition to the formal regular tours.
